Emotional Habitats of the Nooscape

Every Emotional Habitat reflects the internal environment that we hold in our hearts. They are as unique and diverse as our own personal experiences, relationships, and held beliefs that shape our identity through life’s journey.

Because the Nooscape is a boundless world with endless possibilities, it is impossible to describe all the Emotional Habitats that can exist. Having explored my own Nooscape, several different Emotional Habitats have been revealed to me.

FORESTS

Forests in the Nooscape may be living, dormant, or dead. Their condition depends on the emotional state of our hearts related to a personal experience. The energies of those feelings become the light, soil, and seeds that create the plant forms in our Nooscape. Like the physical world, many types of forest communities and conditions can exist. Their symbology is a direct reflection of what we hold within our hearts.

DESERTS

Deserts in the Nooscape can also take many forms. Their meaning is dependent on how your emotions identify with these environments. In my journey, deserts are beautiful, diverse, and spiritually powerful places that come alive with hope, strength, adaptation, resiliency, and survival. Yet, they can also be lonely and seemingly lifeless. The silence and absence of animal activity can certainly evoke a sense of foreboding emptiness, but may also embody peace and stillness.

Mountains

Mountains in the Nooscape present themselves in many ways. Their majestic beauty is often matched by a sense of overwhelming and insurmountable circumstance. While mountains can symbolize strength, empowerment, and confidence, they can also be a worrisome landscape that feels impossible to overcome. Whatever we are feeling, a mountainous landscape is surely symbolic of the challenges we are facing or have boldly overcome.

Water Worlds

Water worlds in the Nooscape are dramatic Emotional Habitats. The seas in our physical world seem to embody every emotion we may be capable of feeling. Our emotional connection to these environments appear equally diverse. Water has the capacity to be calm, serene, and peaceful but can also be tumultuous, violent, and scary. Here, you can float or you can drown, and somewhere in between, our Spirit Creatures must learn to swim.

Much like the physical realm, darkness in the Nooscape is also a place where Spirit Creatures roam. These foreboding environments are powerful symbols of mystery, uncertainty, or chronic anxiety. However, there are creatures who thrive in darkness, while others wander and search the eternal night for rays of sunlight just beyond an invisible horizon.

The special thing about Spirit Creatures in these dark Emotional Habitats is that they are unwittingly the source of light and vibrant color. In this way, the emotions that gave them life are also the emotions that give us access to the light of hope we may be seeking in dark times.

Confusion-scapes

The Nooscape is not a world of laws that any physicist could understand. Since the Nooscape is a wilderness intuitively and naturally created from our internal emotions, they can also take on many fantastical forms that border on the psychedelic and bizarre. These confusion-scapes are truly a place where Spirit Creatures wrestle with challenges, conditions, and scenarios that can only be imagined or derived from dreams and altered states. Oftentimes, Spirit Creatures become entangled in these Emotional Habitats as if they are either becoming a part of the disorder, passing through, or emerging from it.
