Lemurkitty: A Daimon

Background: Ever since I was little, art was my way to express and survive a difficult childhood. I even tried art school before financial hardship and the threat of homelessness forced me to leave. My unhealed trauma later kept me in a relationship where my art was dismissed as childish, and I stopped creating for nearly twenty years. Without art, I couldn't heal.
After my liberation from that relationship, a trusted friend and spiritual mentor helped me begin my healing journey. Soon after, I met the most amazing person who became my life partner who encouraged me to paint again which led to my first painting in over 20 years. It was also the first painting I did while on my path to healing from 40 years of trauma, addiction, and mental illness.
At the time, I didn’t know that I had just discovered the Nooscape and it took several years before I realized what this painting actually symbolized.
Interpretation: Lemurkitty (I call her) is a Daimon Spirit Creature that is oddly not paired with an Eidolon representation of myself. This is because I hadn’t technically “entered” the Nooscape until this point. While the Nooscape is ever-present, growing, and evolving within us, I learned that we must make the effort to “enter” this inner world consciously before we can explore its hidden truths to heal. Interestingly, Lemurkiity is actually the Daimon of the “creature” looking at this captured moment (i.e., me).
Lemurkitty greets me at the edge of a forest with black, leafless trees scorched by fire, symbolizing the years I spent in destructive patterns that destroyed a significant part of my heart (and the Nooscape). Perched on a living tree in the immediate foreground, she smiles with wide-eyed loving wonder, welcoming me home to a place where a new life of healing can begin. Remarkably, for this painting, the living Nooscape is not found within the boundaries of the frame, but within me as the viewer. The journey into the Nooscape does not begin ahead of me, but within me.
The glowing orange sky represents both the sunset on a destructive past and the sunrise on a hopeful future. As the first guide of the Nooscape, Lemurkitty was my first introduction to exploring my healing journey in an exceptional way.
